HD-CVI käyttää patentoitua videonsiirtotekniikkaa, jolla voidaan siirtää jopa 1080p (1920 x 1080) resoluutiota pakkaamattomassa muodossa tavallisilla koaksiaali- tai kierretyillä parikaapeleilla, joita käytetään analogisissa CCTV-kameroissa. Tätä pakkaamatonta videomuotoa voidaan siirtää pidemmillä etäisyyksillä kuin mitä tahansa IP-kameraa. Lisäksi HD-CVI voi siirtää video-, ääni- ja ohjaussignaalit (OSD tai PTZ) yhdellä koaksiaalikaapelilla sen sijaan, että jokaiseen lähetykseen tarvitsisi käyttää erillisiä kaapeleita.

Teknologian ansiosta vanhan analogisen videovalvontajärjestelmän päivittäminen on helppoa ja yksinkertaista. Riittää, että ostat uuden tallentimen eikä montaa valvontakameraa. Samalla säilyy analogisten järjestelmien helppokäyttöisyys HD- ja FullHD-videokuvilla.</sup></sub>
